Dear Lizzy,

May 9, 2011

As I mentioned a earlier my mom and I went on a girls only shopping excursion on friday.
One of my favorite stops was Dear Lizzy.

Dear Lizzy is a boutique and bistro that is french, vintage, and funky.
My mom and I walked in and both gave an audiable gasp.
So adorable.

Dear Lizzy is the kind of place that requires the "magazine skim". The "magazine skim" is when you flip through the pages of the magazine just to get a quick look over of the whole thing. Then after you have done that you go back and read every detail on every page.

Basically you are so excited to see ALL of it you have to skim the whole store first before you actually start shopping.

I managed to rein myself in and only by one thing.
Vintage Office Stamps. I thought they would be perfect for sending cute snail mail from Hawaii back to family.

We and such a great time {shopping and eating}! It was the perfect activity for a
mother + daughter on mother's day weeked!
And, I can't stop thinking about all the cute things we found!

-xoxo love you mom!

A Happy Mothers Day!

A Birthday Night

April 9, 2011

Happy Birthday to the best mom ever, yesterday! We had a fun birthday party night! We ate dinner at Zuppas {tortilla chilli + honey bacon club - the bacon}. While we were eating Sophie was busy doing tricks with her plastic spoon. After dinner we went home ate cupcakes and did presents! My mom got just what she wanted, music books and gallison notebooks. Of course Sophie was very helpful unwrapping presents, and even sat in the gift bag! We followed up the presents with a few cards games and peanut butter m&m's. What a wonderful birthday night!

:: In other news.... Key Lime got a little makeover - to wordpress! I still have a lot to learn about wordpress but I'm loving it so far! I will be posting at Key Lime's blog page now, instead of just having a static "shop". Go check it out! And if you find broken links, or things that need fixing let me know! My current post talks about why I switched to wordpress!

Our Girls Night

March 13, 2011

(used the "timer" setting for this picture. Push the button & run to your seat)

Last weekend we had a girls outing. Mom + Mom/Daughter + Daughter. We always have such a good time together! We made several different stops throughout the evening. The itinerary...

01. Mom gave me a NieNie calendar when she picked me and S up. So adorable.

02. Split a Strawberry + Mango Doughnut at Beyond Glaze.

03. Next stop, Clinique Make-Up counter in the mall. It's Free Gift Time! We got a cute flowered make-up   bag full of goodies with our purchase! I am not a loyal clinique shopper but I do love free gift time!

04. Pei Wei {Lettuce Wraps, Lo Mein, and Honey Seared Chicken}

05. Quick stop at Sweet Tooth Fairy {Split a VaNieNiella and Nutter Butter Cupcake}

06. Last stop- Deseret Book for the Our Best Bites Cookbook signing. Okay, I seriously LOVE their cookbook. So far I have made Taco Soup, Homemade Guacamole, Honey-Citrus Dressing, Guiltless Alfredo and plan on trying a million more!

How was your weekend? I have a confession .... I didn't take a single picture on the 12th! Opps! And the worst part...  I remembered it was the 12th, I was just feeling a little to lazy to get my camera out. I just felt like enjoying a relaxed saturday. Maybe next month! (+ the 12th is tues next month, that will be lots easier!)
Did you do 12 on 12?

Motherhood: A New Level

November 13, 2010

Sophie and I spent loads of time this last week cuddled in her favorite blanket watching mickey mouse and playing with her favorite toy, cards. Sophie was sick, with croup. Believe it or not this was her first time being really sick. Her stuffy little nose, raspy breathing, and unstoppable coughing, just made my heartbreak.

When I told my mom that S was sick the first things she said was, "Brings motherhood to a whole new level doesn't it?" Yep, sure does. There was nothing I could do for Sophie except watch her cry in frustration. I checked on her what felt like a million times while she was sleeping. Just to listen to her raspy snoring.

What a helpless feeling.

The doctor gave her a shot and said that she would just have to fight it off. Fighting it off included, lots of apple juice, a few walks outside to open up her airways, and a lot of cuddling. Which happened to be the only upside of the whole sickness thing. Sophie is not a cuddler. She is a independent, no snuggles allowed, kind of girl.

At least I got some cuddles.

Now motherhood is on a whole new level. I love her that much more. I want her to be smiling and giggling, not frustrated and coughing. Watching Sophie being sick I realized that the hardest part about being a mom isn't always going to be changing diapers, soothing after a bonked head, or getting up in the middle of the night. I expect it is going to get much harder than that. Which just makes me more grateful for my mom. thanks mom for being the best. xoxo.

a missionary

October 22, 2010

{left: husand - right: hyrum}

The other day I accidentally moved all 450 files from my "pictures" folder onto my desktop. Yikes. They there were, all 450 pictures on my desktop just in case I wanted to look at them.
It took forever to fix. And of course I didn't do it immediately. I re-organized them over a few days time. Did you know one of Brian's pet peeves is having a ton of files on the desktop?

While I was trying to reverse the mess of files I came across a few pictures of B on his mission. {Isn't he cute?} He served a 2 year mission for the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Virginia. Looking through the pictures I started to wonder...

What would it be like to serve a mission, a full time mission? I know all members of the church are suppose to be missionaries through service and example but I am talking about white shirt & ties with little black badges.

What would it be like moving, in faith, away from family and friend to a strange culture? Would I be able to answer the questions of those who are seeking out the gospel?  Could I learn a new language? I can't imagine what an adventure that would be!

My oldest-younger, and much taller, brother is getting closer to being 19 and serving a mission. I wonder where he will go... australia? texas? I can't wait to write him old-fashioned handwritten letters and send him some oreos & snickers. He will be a great missionary!

:: Have you ever gone to mormon.org?

The new Mormon.org is designed for visitors to learn more about members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. To help share the gospel each member of the church has the opportunity to create a profile; a collection of stories and testimony. I haven't gotten around to creating a profile {working on it} but my mom has one. Hi, I'm Lesa - I'm a Mormon ....

I am blessed by being member of the LDS church. I want to be a missionary, even if I don't have a white shirt and black badge.

Do you have a mormon.org profile?
Or maybe you want to learn more about the LDS church?

A Very Special Letter

August 14, 2009

My mom wrote this letter to our Baby Girl. It is my favorite blog post I have ever read. She said I could share it on my blog too. I am going to keep this letter forever.
Dear Granddaughter,
Last week your Mommy found out that you are a girl. I was so pleased to learn about that. I know I will love all my grandchildren, boy or girl, but it was so much fun to learn about my 1st grandchild being a little girl.
We are anxious for your arrival in December of this year. What a wonderful time to be born into the world. Speaking of this world, I hope you like it here. It is full of so much beauty and happiness. It is full of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is full of love, peace, and harmony. You will be welcomed by a beautiful Mom and handsome Dad. They already love you and are looking forward to your arrival.
I am anxious to hold you, love you, and teach you. The minute I see you I will do the same thing my Mom did to all my children when they were born. I will count your fingers and toes and look at your ears and eyes and then give you a kiss on your forehead.
This world is a busy place. You will come down with heavenly scent. Even though it can be tough in this big old world, it is so full of many blessings. In my heart I know you will do good, be happy, and help others. Right now your parents are picking out the best name for you to carry on this earth.
Your grandpa and I look forward to meeting you. Until then, enjoy heaven, and if you get a chance visit with your Grandma Cottle, my Mom, and let her know how much we miss her. We are counting the days and know it will be here before we know it.
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
We love you,
Through and through.
Love, Your Grandma-to-be

My Mom

August 10, 2009

My Mom and I went on a girls ONLY vacation! We had such a great time! We spent 2 days in Las Vegas and 2 days in St. George! We went to see the Lion King at Mandalay Bay. It was SO good! The costumes we unbelievable! We also went to Footloose at the Tuacan! Also very very good! We shopped, and shopped, and shopped, and we ate a lot of really great places!

I always love spending time with my mom! :)

My mom has played the piano her whole life. She is very talented! I have seen her change the mood of a room, bring tears to people's eyes, and bring comfort to those who need it.

All growing up my mom has accompanied me for the violin, choir, try out, church events, solo & ensemble, and just random jam outs!

My mom teaches piano, plays at the hospital, and Joseph Smith Memorial Building. She has just started a new Piano Blog! My mom's the best!

Happy Mothers Day!

May 10, 2009

Happy Mothers Day! I love both the mom's in my life! They inspire me!

I was trying to figure out what to write about these wonderful mom's and I happened to stumble across this short movie the church made! It says it all! Watch it! ~We Love You~

Happy Birthday Mom! Yesterday was my moms birthday! We had a lot of fun celebrating with her! We went to the Olive Garden for dinner and then went home and played Canasta (Hand & Foot) After Brian and I won the first round my mom decided to make a birthday request that she could win the next round, but she didn't get her wish! Sorry! : )
Thanks for Being the best mom ever! We always love spending time with you and hope you had a happy birthday!
