Fancing a Font

January 28, 2011

I don't know about you but I tend to seriously fall-in-crush with fonts. I'm sure you have noticed. I find a font I love, then use it on about every design I do for a whole month. Then find another font. Repeat. My newest crush....

or what about these pretties...

Did you know there are several different ways to change the font on your blog?

Here are some options...

Option #1. Blogger just added a TON of new fonts to the template designer.
Awesome! And super easy!

Options #2. Let say you want to use a standard computer font, like Century Gothic,
for your post text. All you have to do it go to the template editor > advanced > add css
and add this line...

body {font-family:"century gothic", verdana, arial;}

Just change the "century gothic" to whatever font you want.
{make sure it is a standard computer font}
The verdana and arial are also listed just case the font you choose is not loaded on someones computer. Those are the "second choice" fonts.

Option #3. If you want to use ANY font for your blog post titles, and have it show up on everyone's computer you can follow Amanda's tutorial. It does take a little bit of time so make sure your kids are in bed and you have your comfy clothes on before you start this project.

What is you favorite font? Or places to find fonts?

Very cute...I always love your tutorials. I seem to have trouble with this Amanda and Kevin tutorial and getting it to work but maybe I'll try again. Thanks for taking the time to explain this stuff.

Thanks for sharing this! I love fonts as well, but have struggled in this area with my blog. I have had troubles getting Amanda & Kevin's tutorial to work right too. Thanks for the tip on adding the css line. Your blog always looks adorable!

another tip on adding the line of css to use century gothic....

while you are writing your post the font will be times new roman (or whatever your default font is). once you publish it wil change to century gothic.

also, any post you have writen in the past and haven't used "default font" while writing your post. (ex. you changed it to georgia) will not change to century gothic. You will have to go back and change the font of your post to "default". (top choice in the font options....)

Hope those made sense! :)

Quick question - so do I have to use Kevin and Amanda for post titles or is there a way to do it with the blogger advanced program? I looked and there doesn't seem to be but I'm hoping there is since I always have trouble with Kevin and Amanda.

Thanks :)

PS - Ginger, I'm glad I'm not the only one who had trouble :)

I ♥ cute fonts too. I have used Kevin and Amanda lots. One of my favorite font sites (besides Kevin&Amandas) is http://www.scrapvillage.com/. They have super cute fonts for free.

@ jenny - I haven't ever heard of scrap village! I am going to check it out!

@dawn- You can use the template designer to change the post titles as well.
